Champlain

$65.00
Color

Paying homage to Opolis’ founder’s great, great grandfather sea captain Reuben Merrill, the Champlain is named after Captain Merrill’s 216-foot clipper ship built at East Boston and running out of New York that sank at the North Farallones on June 14, 1875, where Merrill lost his life.  The design represents Merrill's adventurous spirit and dedication to the sea.

A stylish, sustainable style for every face - especially those looking for a more oversized look. The StokedPlastic® material is feather-light with extra protection on the sides, making the Champlain a perfect choice for long days out in the sun, enjoying the planet these sunnies are designed to protect. Each pair pulls 4 water bottles out of the environment, and includes a StokedPlastic® case and microfiber cloth.

The MOB Shop brings together gear and gifts from Maine's outdoor makers. Every purchase goes directly to the founders behind each brand and supports MOB's work connecting, growing, and championing Maine's outdoor entrepreneurs.

Based in Kennebunkport, Maine, Opolis Optics was founded by James Merrill in 2020. The company makes sunglasses and ski and snowboard goggles built on StokedPlastic®, a fully sustainable blend derived from ocean-bound water bottles, developed with the University of Southern Maine. After a decade as a U.S. government contractor abroad, Merrill saw a direct link between plastic pollution and violence and decided to act. Opolis owns this eyewear technology, supporting its claim to be the most sustainable eyewear brand on earth. MOB member since 2021.
